Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, frustrated with his Republican colleagues’ attempts to block an extension of emergency unemployment benefits, took to the floor late Wednesday evening to urge passage of this bill. “The notion that you’re going to cut off somebody’s unemployment insurance and have them go out and find a job is just plain nuts,” said Whitehouse.
